Dynamo bring KHL title to Moscow (+Video)
Jakub Klepis earned himself a place in Russian hockey folklore after his goal settled the destiny of the 2012 Gagarin Cup final. The Czech forward kept his composure on the slot to score the only goal of the decisive seventh game of the final series, returning the championship to Moscow for the first time since 2005 and condemning hosts Avangard Omsk to an agonizing defeat by the narrowest of margins.
Slovenes win thriller vs. Japan
LJUBLJANA – Slovenia won its second game, but the 4-2 victory against Japan eventually became a close game that was decided with Ales Kranjc’s game-winner 80 seconds before the end of the game after the home team had blown a 2-0 lead.
1972 Summit Series recognized
The IIHF Council has decided to introduce an IIHF Milestone Award, to be granted periodically “to a team or teams that have made a significant contribution to international ice hockey or had a defining impact on the development of the game”. The Council decided that the first such honour will go to the teams of the 1972 Summit Series.
Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia kicks off today
QIQIHAR, China – For the next two weeks the focus will be on women’s hockey. The IIHF Women’s Challenge Cup kicks off on today in China, and next week the finals of the European Women’s Challenge Cup will be played in Finland.

On an entertaining night which featured plenty of skills, thrills, a record-setting slapshot from Zdeno Chara and a love-in for Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, the highlight was Kane’s act.
